OUR local stations
(and our RaDIO mAria family)
WHJM 88.7 FM (WIth (the) Hearts (of) Jesus and Mary) first hit the airwaves from the Botkins Relay Tower on June 15, 2006...Although our transmitting antenna and tower was abruptly struck from a bolt of lightning, it still was enough to fulfill the FCC deadline to sign-on and be on the air. After repairs were made, WHJM returned to the airwaves on August 11 of that year. WHJM also serves the southern portion and downtown area of Lima, along with Wapakoneta, St. Marys, Botkins, Anna, Sidney and Piqua along the I-75 corridor. When WHJM fades out in Troy switch to 103.3 FM or 1600 AM.
WULM 1600 AM began in 1946 as daytimer WJEL, then located in Dayton. In 1954 the station was given permission by the FCC to move to Springfield to become WBLY (Bailey Lucas and Yountz)which swapped locations with WWSO which also moved to Dayton to become talk station WAVI and is now the AM incarnation of R&B formatted WDAO. WBLY was sold to Urban Light Ministries in 2002 adopting the WULM callsign until Radio Maria purchased it in the spring of 2008
WULM is 1,000 watts daytime and 34 watts at night per FCC rules to avoid interference with other stations on that frequency. To alleviate the AM power-down at sunset. Radio Maria in the fall of 2015 aquired 103.3 FM in Enon (callsign W277AO) a low-powered FM "translator" as a WULM simulcast to serve Springfield, Fairborn, Huber Heights Vandalia and other north Dayton communities. Our signal at 103.3 reaches downtown Dayton on your car radio when driving along I-75......and remember "We're Under (Our) Lady's Mantle."
